Bicycle Helmet Safety

Safety is a serious concern for everyone. The National Transportation Association wants you to be more aware of safety for bicyclist. Nearly 70,000 bicyclists suffer serious head injuries every year and many never recover. Researchers say three out of four serious cycling head injuries could have been prevented by using bicycle helmets. Head injury rehabilitation is a costly and difficult challenge which could lead to permanent disability or in extreme cases, death. The National Transportation Association understands new safety habits can be hard. However, the potential cost of rehab far outweighs the price of a bicycle helmet. If we can spend $50 on video games to challenge the brain, then we should be willing to protect the brain, inside and out at a fraction of the cost. As a parent, it is up to you to protect your children. Make it a rule, no helmet, no bicycle. The National Transportation Association cares about their safety and you should too.
